Hi everyone! The island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands just experienced a category 5 super typhoon on October 25th.

This tiny 5 mile x 12 mile island was left in ruins after 180 mph winds (and gusts of over 200+) from Typhoon Yutu destroyed everything in its path.

For those who do not know, Saipan is an American territory. Unfortunately, the typhoon has received very very little (if at all) news coverage here in the states, especially where I live in North Carolina. This beautiful island has a special place in my heart as it is where I called home for a year after I graduated college.

Every. Single. One. of my friends lost their homes and they are estimating that power will not be fully restored on the island for a couple of months. 😔

Since I know there’s so many of you amazing ladies all over the world, I want to ask who of you has heard about the typhoon in Saipan and it’s aftermath? Has it been newsworthy where you live? I feel terrible for my friends and the residents of the island as they are feeling so forgotten during all of this.

Most of my friends back here in the states don’t even know that Saipan is an American territory!!
